Ospreys are more common on the seacoast, so an inland sighting is a treat. Maybe this bird will stay to nest. Thanks to hikingcamera for these great photos from the Quabbin Reservoir. See www.hikingcamera.blogspot.com for more photos of wildlife encountered around the Quabbin.

Ospreys live on fish and are, of course, highly skilled at picking fish out of the water. But sometimes the fish is not facing in the "right" direction.

The osprey will always turn the fish so that it faces forward and parallel to its belly so the fish is streamlined while the bird is in flight.
