GET READY TO PARTICIPATE IN BUMBLEBEE OBSERVATION AND REPORTING

Thank you to our keynote presenter, Dr. Robert Gegear, who discussed bumblebee decline and future plans to "crowd source" information from the field in order to further study possible causes.
To read more about ongoing research into plant-pollinator interactions at the Gegear Research Lab at WPI,

To assist with this citizen science effort, participants first need to learn identification features of native bumblebees, Bombus sp.  Contact Dr. Gegear
if you would like to know how to learn more about bumblebees or to request a bumblebee identification guide.

Meanwhile, you may send Dr. Gegear bumblebee photographs for identification--using the proper angle shown below--along with information about the flower it was visiting, and whether it was collecting nectar, or pollen, or both.
